Structural Steel
Our structural steelworks include building-beams and roof trusses for residential work, lift shafts and stairwells for multi-unit apartment blocks and forecourt canopies for services stations, medium to heavy metal fabrication works, piping and mechanical fittings, steel, stainless steel and aluminium handrails, gates and fences. We provide I-Beams to 610UB/310 UC, pipes upto 20", all standard RHS,SHS, channels, angles and plate work. We can also offer 3D modeling using AutoDesk Advance Steel software. Our workshop is equipped with modern machinery and has fabrication capacity of upto 40 tonnes a month.
Seismic Strengthening
Metalways offers seismic strengthening of new structures and seismic retrofitting of existing structures to hep make them more resistant to seismic activity, ground motion, or soil failure due to earthquakes. With New Zealand's recent experiences with large earthquakes near urban centers, the need for seismic retrofitting is well acknowledged. We work to the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE)'s guidelines, and although it is important to keep in mind that there is no such thing as a fully earthquake-proof structure, seismic performance can be greatly enhanced through the strengthening process. Structural steel fabrication is done as per NZS 3405 and installation is done as per NZS3405, AS4100 and SA MAA1.9.
Design and Fabrication
We can fabricate from your design or we can design for you from a written or verbal brief or even develop design from hand-drawn sketches using our 3D CAD system. We are experts in plate-cutting and section cutting and can also provide initial trial assemblies if needed. We also have the ability to add some extra flair with 3D modelling and detailing using Tekla and Advance steel softwares.
Quality Testing and Safety on Site
We recommend our 3D laser scanning service for critical accuracy when precise engineering is essential for safety and alignment. Our concrete scanner technology allows us to locate rebar and obstacles when drilling and installing metalwork. We can also offer NDT (Non-Destructive-Testing) of welding work as part of our quality assurance checks.
We also have full Site Safe and Site Wise workplace health and safety accreditation for our team. On the team we also have an ASNT-certified NDT Inspector for quality inspections of all our welding work. Metalways is a registered member of Steel Construction New Zealand, fostering business and technical excellence in our industry. Installation and Finishing
To protect your valuable investment we can provide painting, corrosion protection or galvanising finishes to any steel construction. We can also arrange transport to site and if needed, traffic management for large scale installations, or we can work with your own on-site installation team and provide a final quality check to ensure everything is up to spec.
